Mid-America Mensa is currently looking into the possibility of hosting MIND GAMES in 2028. What is meant by MIND GAMES you ask? Founded in 1990, American Mensa’s Mind Games has become one of the most respected national games competitions. Each year, manufacturers and inventors from around the world enter new-to-the-market games at MG.
Over a three-day period, Mensans divide into groups, play the games, fill out score sheets and comment cards, and rank their favorites. Five games are chosen as Mensa Select® Winners; winners such as Scattergories, Taboo, and Apples to Apples have gone on to become top-sellers and award-winners.
This is a really big deal and the seven members of the MAM Board cannot do it all without more of your help. Selecting an appropriate hotel is the first task, and the most important, component of a successful Mind Games bid. Without that, we cannot go forward with the bid. If our bid is accepted by National, we’ll need a Treasurer, Registration Coordinator, and a Hospitality Coordinator. National will help hotel contract negotiations but there is no substitute for local input.
MAM hasn’t had a Regional Gathering for several years and most Mensans don’t go to Annual Gatherings. This could be an intensely exciting event for kids, teenagers, old timers, and everyone in between, to experience such a major event close to home. Four hundred people at Mind Games is not unusual.

Kansas City received tremendously positive worldwide attention from the 2026 FIFA matches. We can build on that – and let’s not forget about another one of our local area cities Lawrence, KS. A major event like American Mensa Mind Games involves many moving pieces.
