For night owls who want to play games into the wee small hours, or anyone who doesn’t want to worry about driving home after beer and wine tastings, the DoubleTree is giving us a very good room rate of $129 per night. Hotel registration information is available here: https://group.doubletree.com/mmmtjc

We will have a Hospitality Suite from Friday evening through Sunday morning. Snacks and soft drinks, as well as alcohol, will be served. Lunch on Saturday will be a soup contest served and judged in the Suite. This is one of our favorite events, as the offerings are always palate-pleasing! If you would like to participate, we are pleased to offer a $15 registration rebate. Other activities in Hospitality will include a beer tasting on Friday and wine tasting on Saturday.

If you are staying at the DoubleTree you may choose to add on a breakfast option to your room cost or partake of a light continental breakfast served up in Hospitality.

Friday Evening

Join us in Hospitality for a board game tournament, some good old Kansas City BBQ and a beer tasting hosted by none other than our LocSec Curt Krambeck. Light snacks will be offered to pair with the beers. The games rooms are scheduled to be open for the duration of the weekend.

Expect Saturday to be a smorgasbord of fun!! Games tournaments, speakers, a soup competition — all rounded out by our Saturday evening meal and keynote speaker. And then attend a wine tasting conducted by a presenter who is yet to be arranged. There are even opportunities to visit some nearby Kansas City attractions!

Speakers Track

The Speaker Chairs have been busy. They are lining up five or six “knock your socks off” speakers. Maybe literally, who knows. Here is the best of our final speakers list so far:

Catiara Marie     Tarot card reader — She will give a presentation on Saturday. She will then set up a table to do more readings if needed.
Kevin Winer     Director, Kansas City Police Crime Laboratory
Robert & Kelly Pascuzzi    [Editor’s note: CANCELED!] Authors of the book THE RAVINE which was made into a recent movie.
Dr. Russell Kohl will share first-hand experiences, knowledge, and stories gained across multiple large-scale disasters, giving a human perspective of the responders and victims while also gleaning lessons to prepare us for future events.
Tim Marks     KC Improv — He will put on a short class on the art of improv.
Theresa Maze     Belly Dancer — She will have a short class and demonstration on the art of belly dancing.
Nick Padgett     Executive Director of Padgett Productions — A talk about the shows his company puts on and how he got into the business.
Daisy Bucket & Tajma Stetson     Drag Queens extraordinaire — They will provide some after dinner entertainment.

Sunday Morning

Sunday will wind down with recognition of our tournament winners, volunteers, and a big thank you to all who came to join in the fun. And then we’ll start looking at next year!
