Symbolic trapping or shopping fun, whichever way you approach the month of December it can be a much appreciated, beautiful time of the year. Decorative lights and ornaments go up on celebrated trees. Children prepare their wish lists for the approaching visit by that jolly, old elf, Santa Claus. Gifts are exchanged by the rest of us as this is the season for tying up loose ends and putting a bow on things. So, here’s what’s going on around Mid-America Mensa.

First of all, there is a holiday fun two-for-one. Join up with the LUSH SwIG group for a filled flask ‘white elephant’ exchange at the Parlor, 1707 Locust St., KCMO, on Tuesday, December 17th, 7:00 pm. Then, stick around and join in with our Millennial/GenX/Trivia group when we play trivial pursuit with the Geeks Who Drink pub quiz. Parlor is a new food hall concept in KC with two bars and seven restaurants on three floors. Check out the MAM Facebook group page for more details: https://www.facebook.com/groups/mamensa/.

Next, MAM’s Annual Christmas Dinner & Party is scheduled to be held on Saturday, December 21st at 5:30 pm. Supper will begin at about 6:15 pm. This year’s Christmas Dinner Party will again be a pot luck style supper to go along with the usual good conversation and a gift grab. Whether new or long-time member, all are welcome. Check out your copy of the Mension for more of the details and for how you need to RSVP — to ensure we prepare enough for the main course.

KC Annual Gathering 2020 Note: Kansas City is a revolution of creativity, music, food, art, and spirit… and we get to enjoy it all week long! The Sheraton Kansas City at Crown Center will serve as the main event hotel, with a limited number of additional rooms available at the adjoining Westin Kansas City. Programming will be split between both hotels. Attendees will need to travel between them daily via an indoor skywalk. Event and room reservations began on November 1st.
